The primary purpose of the Behavior Technician is to practice under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBA, or BCaBA. The BT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services, following behavior plans developed by a BCBA, modeling behavior techniques for other staff and/or caregivers, and documenting all services within an educational model of practice and any other duties as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Help students function effectively in the school environment.
  • Assess areas in which students may require assistance or mental health counseling.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers and administrators.
  • Maintain accurate case files and reports to track student issues and progress.
  • Assist in remediation by providing treatment plans or counseling.
  • Evaluate student transcripts.
  • Participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Prefer one year working directly with children of any/all abilities.
  • Minimum education requirement is an A.A degree or will need to take and pass a district skills exam.
  • Strong interest in applied behavior analysis as a career (preference to candidates enrolled in graduate ABA programs).
  • Previous experience as a clinical Behavior Therapist or paraprofessional in a school setting.
