Overview

Full-time Activities Coordinator- Supervisor

Retirement Community- Riverdale, NY 

Wages: $25-$29 hourly 

 

We are in search of a well-organized and engaging activities supervisor to support current  activities programs and help create new ones as needed . The  Activities supervisor will be expected to gauge individual interests of residents , conceptualize appropriate activities for them,  and ensure the availability of all necessary resources to facilitate such programs. They would also be responsible to determine the success of each program and its ability to stimulate residents. They would report back to the Director of Activities with further suggestions for correction.

To be successful as an activities Supervisor, you should be able to create programs that are sensitive to differences in physical and cognitive abilities. A well suited activities clinician will use their  skills  to promote  enjoyment and tranquility within our space for our residents using the dimensions of wellness; physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and occupational.

Responsibilities

Activities/ Resident Transport Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with staff and clinicians to understand the ways in which activities can promote healing and belonging.
  • Conducting needs assessments to ascertain physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.
  • Determining individual interests and expectations regarding leisure time
  • Developing an activities program that is both sufficiently diverse and sensitive to our occupants' needs
  • Sending Purchase order request with supplies needed  for all activities
  • Advertising events well in advance of their scheduled times.
  • Supervising and participating in events alongside staff and occupants.
  • Compiling periodic reports that outline successes, constraints, and the way forward.
  • Overseeing scheduling for Resident  transport department to adhere to needs of facility
  • Making rounds for resident transport to ensure efficiency and quality customer service  

 

Qualifications

 

Activities/Resident Transport Supervisor Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required ; College preferred
  • Appropriate training and/or certifications  preferred
  • Demonstrable experience as an Manager or supervisor for a similar team of eight or more in healthcare/healthcare related field
  • Computer literate with sound knowledge of Sigma care, Excel, Word, Sagely web
  • Creative concepts for program planning and implementation of same for Memory Care residents required--- experience in event  planning a plus
  • Upbeat, communicative, and empathic disposition--committed to fostering well-being and fun.
  • Knowledge of dimensions of wellness and pool activity approach encouraged
  • Willingness to avail yourself for occasional weekend work
